Author Cedric Long talks about his new Romance Novel - Corrupt Officer's Guide to Love
So first off, tell everyone what the new book is about. Well it's the second book in The Corrupt Author Guide's Series. It's actual a prequel, a love story prison guard John Youngblood meet's his childhood rush he never confessed his feelings for as she is serving a prison sentence at Osceola prison for women. The two start to reconnect and sparks began to fly.
So can the two main characters get in trouble, and don't you write on actual experiences? How much of this story is real? Well, yes relationships between prison staff and inmates is illegal and punishable with ten years in prison. Yes this story is based on my actual experiences as a correctional officer working at Tutwiler Prison for Women. You can look the US Just department's investigation on the facility. Everything in all my writings are things That happened in my life. Now I write fiction and names and circumstances are changed to prevent prosecution.
I have hear of females being harassed by guards but what is the prisoner likes the officer and was willingly envolved. Is inmate and staff relationships common. The law states consent of the victim is not a defense. Inappropriate relationships are very common, not only heterosexual but homosexual. Female guards got involved with female prisoners also.
Well i was going to say, males should work with males and females should work with females. Can a man handle working with women, can a female officer take down a male, what are your thoughts? I support correctional officer's working with the opposite sex. A lot of females told me that having a larger stronger male brought a feeling of comfort and safety. Corrections is not about physically handling an incident. We are always out numbered, use of force incidents are best handled with chemical agents calling for back up and the use of restraints. With these tools a female officer is just as effective as a male.

So who's your favorite character in this book? Definately Allegra, I'm emotionally attached to her, because she is based of a woman I love.
Are you saying you love an inmate, the character is an inmate in the story right? I'm not saying that I had a relationship with an inmate, nor am I saying that I did not. Allegra is a fictional character. All I'm saying is she is based on someone a person I fell a strong connection with.
